The structures in the Island series of drawings are based on design proposals for the creation of artificial islands intended to function as self-governing micronations.
Depicted from a bird’s-eye view, the minutely rendered island structures occupy only a small portion of the paper; the surrounding void suggests both their isolation in the immensity of the ocean and the comparative insignificance of this seemingly grandiose human idea vs. nature
